Session 5: A Crappy Dungeon Crawl
Also, you can't go wrong with poop and fart jokes with teenagers (or my 30-60 year old playtesters).
"Session five opens with an encounter with two Greycloaks who have managed to make it into the Warrens. The party notices a sulfuric smell when the encounter starts, but they're surprised when a fireball sparks a larger fireball, and even a firebolt leads to a stream of fire. Finally, a produce fire spell causes another fireball.
Taking the bodies back to Little Eyes, the party learns that something is wrong with the trash and sewage in the Warrens. The party is sent off to handle the issue, which results in a traditional dungeon crawl.
First, the party meets Five Heads are better than one quintet in the dump and then encounters some waste oozes. After fireballing the waste oozes the kobolds attack them for harming the “sacred blood,” a dragon blood ooze.
After taking a significant mauling from the oozes, including a couple of deaths, the party retreats and returns to find an Otyugh who had been trapped by an Immovable Rod pinning its lower jaw to the ground. The encounter rapidly devolves into an attempt to free an angry Otyugh - which would require sticking a hand in its mouth - while not dying or killing the Otyugh.
Oh, yeah, the party dropped a fireball on itself, knocking half the party unconscious, but barely attracting the Otyugh's notice."
I did not intend to make the adventures so relevant, but with the Taco Bell lettuce recall this seemed particularly on point. Also, you can't go wrong with poop and fart jokes with teenagers (or my 30-60 year old playtesters).
